Beginning Wednesday, November 7, patrons will not be able to access the lower level of Old Worthington Library (820 High Street) for approximately 90 days. The lower level houses the nonfiction collection, foreign language collection, reference materials, several public computers and the Worthington Room.
This closing is a necessary and planned part of the building renovations currently underway at both Old Worthington Library and Northwest Library. While the area is closed, the current reference desk will be removed and replaced with a smaller, more patron-friendly version. The stairway leading to the lower level will also be modified, and three group/quiet study rooms will be added. The area will also receive new carpeting and paint.
To lessen the inconvenience to patrons, public computers from the library's lower level have been temporarily relocated to the fireplace area on the upper level. Some sections of materials will also be relocated to the upper level. Patrons can still reserve items in the library's nonfiction collection. During regular hours of operation, the Library will have designated staff members responsible for retrieving items from the lower level for patrons visiting Old Worthington Library.
