Registrations are still being accepted for the next workshop in the library's writing series, Mark My Words.
On October 28, the series continues with a workshop aimed at teaching adults how to write a memoir, a story that focuses on the meaning and intensity of a singular relationship in the author's life. Writing the Memoir will be led by Thomas Larson, author of The Memoir & the Memoirist: Reading & Writing Personal Narrative.
The program, which is scheduled from 2-4 pm at Old Worthington Library, will help participants find a focus, a purpose and the emotional truth of their story.
Those attending will also examine the mainstays of the memoir form:
Time will be reserved for questions and discussion.
The workshop is free, but registration is required; please call 614-807-2626.
Since 1999, Thomas Larson has been a contributing writer for the weekly "San Diego Reader," where he specializes in investigative journalism, narrative non-fiction and profiles. He leads workshops and lectures on memoir throughout the United States and facilitates private memoir-writing groups.
Mark My Words features quarterly programs aimed at introducing writers to a variety of writing styles and genres, thanks to the talents of some of the area's most renowned authors.
