The Worthington Libraries Board of Trustees held a reception prior to their regular board meeting on December 15 to honor outgoing board member Marty Jenkins, whose seven-year term expires at the end of 2009.
In addition to the current board and library staff, the event was attended by several members of the community, including representatives from the Worthington School Board, Worthington City Council and former library trustees.
Marty was presented with a scrapbook detailing the many projects and initiatives he was involved with during his tenure on the board, including the opening of the Worthington Park Library and renovation of Old Worthington Library and Northwest Library. The Library also received national recognition during Marty's board term when it was selected as the 2007 Library of the Year and as a 5-Star Library in 2009. Board President Janet Brown read a resolution (below) to honor him for his volunteer service, and Marty's fellow board members hailed him as a tireless advocate for the Library whose knowledge will be greatly missed.
Thank you, Marty, for all you've done. You're the best!
