The sounds of summer are in full swing in Northwest Library's backyard.

No, not crickets, the laughing, clapping and singing that accompanies the outdoor concert season! Bring your family for all the fun; performances start at 7 pm at Northwest Library. In the event of rain, concerts will be held in the Library.

Enjoy an eclectic mix of Americana, country, rock, pop and Tin Pan Alley-style balladry on July 10 when Grace Adele & Her Grand Band take the stage. Fresh, memorable melodies accompany songs of love, loss, longing and laughter on her debut CD, "Never Lost," which the Columbus "Dispatch" described as "alternative-country feel infused with jazz, pop and rock qualities."

Each song highlights Adele's talents as a songwriter and instrumentalist, while tracks like "Silent Romance" and "Whether You Want Me" showcase her outstanding vocals.

On July 31, Northwest Library concert series veterans, the Scioto Valley Brass Band, will entertain young scalawags with a pirate-themed concert. Cruising into the library on their ship the Minnie Pearl, those attending should don their own sailor duds and keep a close eye out for characters like Jack Sparrow, Popeye, Gilligan and the Skipper!

The brass band will perform songs like "Under the Sea," "Parade of Tall Ships" and "Margaritaville." The "Gilligan's Island" theme song and various tunes from "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Pirates of Penzance" will also be featured.

Northwest Library's summer concert season is sponsored by the Friends Foundation of Worthington Libraries.
