Worthington's annual Martin Luther King Day celebration will not only focus on young people, but include them in the program.
Scheduled Monday, January 18 at 11 am, the free community event will feature former Franklin County Common Pleas Court judge Yvette McGee Brown. A lifelong advocate for children and families she is currently president of the Center for Child & Family Advocacy at Nationwide Children's Hospital she will discuss the community's role in educating and providing support systems for children and teens.
Also scheduled are performances by the Con Brio Children's Choir, a group of school age singers who attend public and private schools throughout central Ohio, and the Capriccio Vocal Ensemble, a four-part chorus featuring Franklin County vocalists.
The Martin Luther King Day community celebration will be held at Worthington United Methodist Church, 600 High St. Those attending are asked to bring a can or box of food that will be donated to the Worthington Food Pantry.
Following the program, a light lunch will be available in the church's Fellowship Hall. Donations are appreciated.
The event is co-sponsored by the City of Worthington Community Relations Commission, Worthington City Schools and Worthington Libraries.
