Spring is in the air, and if you're thinking about moving your exercise routine outdoors, take the first step in conjunction with an upcoming Worthington Libraries event!

A weekly training series to get runners and walkers ready to compete in Worthington's Gary Smith Classic will kick off on March 28 at 7:30 pm.

The Classic, named for a longtime Thomas Worthington High School track coach who died in 1998, is a 5-mile run/3-mile walk that raises money for pediatric cancer research.

Get Motivated & Condition for the Classic, scheduled at Old Worthington Library, will include valuable information, whether you're a beginning or seasoned runner.

Get advice on running techniques from Jeff Henderson, the track coach at Thomas Worthington High School, and Nicole Gnezda, Gary Smith's widow, will talk about her husband and the importance of the Classic, which will be held on June 12.

Details about weekly training sessions will also be decided.

All runners/walkers are welcome, including those interested in training with a group, but not participating in the Classic.
