Shoveling the sidewalk, scraping your car, donning all manner of outdoor gear for a 10-second dash to grab the newspaper... aren't Ohio winters great?
In February, the Library offers a light at the end of the cold, gray tunnel in the form of a Friday afternoon music series held in Old Worthington Library's fireplace area. What could be more relaxing at the end of a long winter week than to sit comfortably by a fire soaking up the sounds of some of central Ohio's most talented musicians?
- February 3: Dave Powers
For over 30 years, Dave has been a vital part of the Columbus music scene as a pianist, keyboardist and vocalist. His repertoire includes straight-ahead jazz, R&B, gospel and funk styles.
- February 10: The Sorelle Quartet
Worthington's got talent! You'll be delighted by this string quartet of teen musicians from Chamber Music Connection. The ensemble features Alexandria Hill (violin), Katrina Kent (violin), Kimberly Lu (viola) and Aubrey Liston (cello).
- February 17: Ukulele Cowboy Society
Featuring Jesse Chandler and Michael Kaplan, the Ukulele Cowboy Society is a fun and eclectic jazz and swing-style duo that puts a new spin on Billie Holiday, Hank Williams, Cole Porter and more.
- February 24: Mark Flugge
A well-known pianist, composer, educator and bandleader in central Ohio and beyond, Mark currently heads up Capital University's jazz/contemporary piano curriculum.
