Contests call for creativity

There's something about spring that sparks the imagination and fuels creativity. Put both to work in March during exciting annual competitions, sponsored by Worthington Libraries.

Bookmark Illustration Contest

The Library will again team up with the Columbus Clippers to host a Summer Reading League, and kids are needed to help promote it!

Crayons, colored pencils or markers can all be used to draw pictures interpreting the baseball theme. Children in preschool through sixth grade are encouraged to get a bookmark template at any Worthington Libraries location and get drawing.

Participants can submit up to three drawings in the Bookmark Illustration Contest. To be eligible for judging, entries must be received by March 31.

Worthington Libraries will turn winning contest entries into bookmarks to promote the summer reading league. Three entries each will be chosen in the preschool-kindergarten, first through third grade and fourth through sixth grade categories.

Poetry Competition

Spring into action to enter the library's second All-Ages Poetry Competition. Participants can submit up to two poems, March 1-24, at any Worthington Libraries location, where rules and entry forms are also available.

A panel of judges will review all submissions and choose three winners in the following categories: grades K-3, 4-6, 7-8, 9-12 and adult.

On April 28, during National Poetry Month, winners will be announced during open mic readings planned at Old Worthington Library. You can hear from entrants in the K-3 and 4-6 grade categories at 10am and from adult and 7-12 grade entrants at 2pm.
