Library is brewing a birthday breakfast

Coffee, quiche and candles?

This year's Community Breakfast will not only celebrate National Library Week, it will also honor the 40th birthday of the Friends Foundation of Worthington Libraries, the first such organization in Franklin County.

Friends support— both physical and financial— is vital to the Library, which uses Friends funds raised by memberships and book sales to pay for programs and other library initiatives.

In 2012, the Friends will grant more than $43,000 to Worthington Libraries, the majority of which will be used to support programming costs, including the summer reading program. Since the Friends started sponsoring the annual event in 2003, nearly 66,900 children and teens have registered.

But it isn't just about donating money, Friends members are generous with their time as well, always willing and eager to help wherever needed. Throughout the years, they've distributed levy literature and yard signs, hauled boxes of books for countless book sales, pled the library's cause to legislators, participated in strategic planning and so much more.

Plan to attend this year's Community Breakfast, which is scheduled on April 11 at 7:30 am at Old Worthington Library. A heartfelt thank-you to the Friends will be included for all the organization does to keep Worthington Libraries one of the best systems in the state.

The breakfast is free, but registration is requested. Please call Pam at 614-807-2610 by April 5.
