To its author, a blog offers nearly infinite possibilities. With just the click of a mouse, authors can instantaneously publish their thoughts and make them accessible to anyone with an Internet connection.
In fact, it's that freedom to publish, while exhilarating, that can also make blogging difficult. What makes a blog interesting, readable and likely to build a devoted readership? How does a blogger focus on a topic and angle for their blog?
These questions and more will be discussed during Build a Better Blog, the next session in the library's Mark My Words writers' series. Kristin Marks, who features and reviews central Ohio's kid-friendly activities and establishments on her popular blog, will offer tips for those just starting out, as well as share ideas for those who would like to improve their blogs or expand their readership.
Build a Better Blog will start at 2pm on Saturday, Feb. 2 at Old Worthington Library. The workshop is free, but registration is required. You may do so online, or by calling 614-807-2626.
Worthington Libraries' Mark My Words series is a quarterly program that features experienced authors introducing writers to a variety of writing styles and genres. The next workshop, scheduled March 9, will explore the art of humor writing with Columbus Dispatch columnist Joe Blundo.
