Weekend book sale planned

Halloween may be over and done, but if you're still in the mood for a good horror story, check out some of the titles in the Eat This Not That series, which reveals the fattening, frightening truth about American food.

Not only do the books identify especially outrageous menu items, readers are directed to more nutritionally notable dishes. The series highlights nutrition information— including calories, fat, saturated fat, sodium and sugar content— of popular foods; numbers which might shock you into making smarter choices in the grocery store and when eating out.

The 2012 and 2013 Eat This Not That editions are available at this weekend's book sale, sponsored by the Friends Foundation of Worthington Libraries.

The pair can be yours for only $1 each at the sale, which starts Friday, November 15 at 9am and continues through Sunday, November 17 at Old Worthington Library, 820 High St.

All books are in good condition. In addition to an impressive adult fiction and nonfiction selection, there are also children's and teen titles plus cookbooks, home and garden, travel and more.

Children's books will be sold four for $1, and there's a great selection, including titles by Maurice Sendak and Graeme Base. You'll also find several hardcover entries in the Hardy Boys mystery series by Franklin W. Dixon.

If you can't wait until Friday to take a look at all the books the Friends will have available, consider joining the organization. A members-only pre-sale is scheduled Thursday, November 14 from 7-9pm. You can join at that time.
