Last spring, Worthington Libraries announced plans to renovate and expand its Worthington Park Library location. Worthington Park Library, located in a storefront at 1389 Worthington Centre Drive, was opened in 2008 and currently occupies 5,280 square feet.

Beginning November 11 and continuing through December 9, Worthington Park Library will temporarily relocate to available space in the shopping center. During this time:

  • Patrons will have access to staff, computers/copiers, reserve pickup and a limited collection of materials.
  • Storytimes, scheduled November 11-27, will be held at the Lazelle Woods Community Center, 8140 Sancus Blvd.
  • Two programs will be moved to the Old Worthington Library (check the library calendar for the most up-to-date information).
  • The Homework Help Center will be closed, but centers at Old Worthington Library and Northwest Library will remain open to assist students.
  • Patrons will not be able to return items after hours or pay their fines in person (online payments are still possible).

Once the expansion is complete, patrons will enjoy:

  • A larger children's area
  • An enclosed Homework Help Center
  • A community meeting room
  • A popular DVD collection

The expansion will add 3,400 square feet, a 64 percent increase, to Worthington Park Library. The total cost of the project, including construction and furnishings, is estimated to be $526,000.
