You have something you love and you want to share your love with the world. Why not start a blog?

In Nick Dekker's case, his love was breakfast. On his website, he enthuses about its endless versatility— it can be eaten at any time of day, hence breakfast, brunch, brinner or brlate night snack— and its camaraderie.

In 2007, Dekker decided to take his brush (breakfast crush) to a new level. He started his blog as a way to capture the places at which he'd shared breakfast with friends and family, as well as post reviews, photos and occasional videos and recipes from restaurants all over Columbus and anywhere he traveled.

On Aug. 10, Dekker will lead Blogging and Beyond, the latest session in the library's Mark My Words writers' series. He'll share some of his journey in writing books, blogs and magazines. You'll get tips on how to put your own ideas onto the page, or post them to your blog.

Blogging and Beyond is scheduled at Old Worthington Library from 2-4 pm. The workshop is free, but registration is required; you may do so online, or by calling 614-807-2626.

In addition to his blog, Dekker currently writes for Crave Columbus, and has also contributed to (614) Magazine, Food City, PC World Magazine. He guest blogs for Experience Columbus and Drink Up Columbus. In 2011, he published a guidebook to breakfast fare in Columbus called Breakfast with Nick.
