Before giving away everything in your basement as part of a spring cleaning purge, do a little research first; maybe grandma's cuckoo clock or that piece of flea market pottery is actually worth something.

Antiques Roadshow Primer by Carol Prisant is a great place to start your information search. Get acquainted with all the essentials of antiques and collectibles in this jam-packed, illustrated introduction, and develop your antiques expertise with solid, usable facts.

The book, and other antiques evaluation guides, is available at this month's book sale, sponsored by the Friends Foundation of Worthington Libraries.

If a winter spent inside binge-watching HGTV has you considering a whole-home makeover, find inspiration and instruction at the book sale. Home improvement books abound, and you're sure to find one for your project. Everything from remodeling bathrooms and renovating kitchens to building furniture, including cabinets, chairs and bookcases is available.

Most books can be yours for only $1 at the sale, which starts Friday, February 21 at 9am and continues through Sunday, February 23 at Old Worthington Library, 820 High St.

All books are in good condition. In addition to an impressive adult fiction and nonfiction selection, there are also children's and teen titles, plus cookbooks, home and garden, travel and more.

Children's books will be sold four for $1, and there's a great selection, including titles in the Bad Kitty and Junie B. Jones series. You'll also find all three titles in Jeanne Birdsall's award-winning Penderwick series.

If you can't wait until February 21 to take a look at all the books the Friends will have available, consider joining the organization. A members-only pre-sale is scheduled Thursday, February 20 from 7-9pm. You can join at that time.

Friends Foundation book sales are also planned April 25-27, July 18-20, September 12-14 and December 5-7.
