Old Man Winter seems to have finally loosened his stranglehold on central Ohio! The branches of trees and shrubs are full of buds and the first flowers of the season are making an appearance. But nature isn't the only thing moving forward!
Last year, the Library joined the Central Library Consortium (CLC) and earlier this month, the CLC welcomed three new libraries, Bexley Public Library, London Public Library and Upper Arlington Public Library. Our consortium now consists of 14 library systems, serving 1.4 million residents across six counties with more than 4.5 million items in our combined catalog!
It's been almost a year since we launched our catalog have you tried all the new features?
Want to keep track of the books you've read and the other items you've borrowed? Turn on borrowing history! Log in to My Account, visit Account settings and look for the checkbox marked "Save borrowing history." Once you've turned on the feature, everything you've checked out is saved to your library account. (You may remove individual items from your borrowing history or completely delete your history at any time.)
Want to find out when new items of interest are added to the catalog? When you do a search in the catalog, look for the "Save this search" button. Try searching for a favorite author, favorite series or favorite subject. After you click the "Save this search button, name your search, enter your e-mail address and choose how often you want to receive e-mails. When we add a new item to the collection matching your search, you'll get an alert delivered right to your e-mail inbox.
You can also choose to receive text message (SMS) alerts when your reserves are ready for pickup, or library items are due. Log in to My Account, visit Account settings and look for the "Contact information and preferences" section. Add your mobile phone number and click the button marked "Send text messages (SMS) to this number." Under the "Preferences" heading, look for the menu marked "Notification preference" and select "TXT Messaging."
