I saw this book and fell in love with the wildlife photos.
Vibrant National Geographic photos illustrate a collection of animal poems selected by J. Patrick Lewis, U.S. Children's Poet Laureate (and Westerville resident!).
There are 200 poems about large animals and small, winged animals and water animals, noisy and quiet animals. The book contains poems from famous poets like Robert Frost and Emily Dickinson and new poets like Jack Prelutsky and Paul Janeczko. You'll find selections like The Purple Cow by Gelett Burgess and Butterfly by Benjamin Franklin.
Don't feel that you have to read the book straight though. Lewis recommends sampling a piece here and a piece there. Take a poetry moment and see animals in a new light!
I am the library manager at Worthington Park Library. I love books that have music, adventure, humor or sports in them no sad books for me. I read lots and lots of kids books because they are so good and so much fun. When not at the library, I watch college basketball, football of all kinds and the Columbus Crew. I collect musical instruments from around the world and have a pet bunny.
