It's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" meets "The Westing Game" in this action-packed tale for bibliophiles.
A brand new, state-of-the-art library is about to open in a town that hasn't had a library in 12 years. What's changed? Mr. Luigi Lemoncello, the famous game maker, wants to give back to the community and the institution that had such an impact on his career. Mr. Lemoncello is giving 12 12-year-olds the opportunity to be the first people inside the exceptional new building, and the lucky kid who solves the mystery inside will win a very special prize.
I loved this book! I want to go to Mr. Lemoncello's library. Heck, I want to WORK there! It's the library of my dreams! One of my all-time favorite books growing up was The Westing Game. I read it in fifth grade and just DEVOURED it. I fully believe this book will inspire the same kind of passion. Yes, it has heavy echos of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but that is a classic tale for a reason-- it's fun!
I am the youth services materials selector for Worthington Libraries, my dream job. I read tons of kids and teen books and culinary cozy mysteries and devour cookbooks as if they were novels. I am the mommy to two young boys, and consider them my test audience for children's books and kid's music.
