Baseball meets Top 10 lists! This book has everything: phenomenal photos, bountiful baseball and fascinating facts.
Have you ever had that moment when you walk into the library and there on the shelf is a book that makes you gasp? You look at the book and think it may be the book of your dreams! You run over and snag it off the shelf before anybody else has the opportunity to steal it away from you. If this has happened to you, then you know how I was feeling when I came across Sports Illustrated Kids Full Count.
Fun fact about me: I love a top 10 list. I am also an avid baseball fan. This book is a match made in heaven for me. There is a wide variety of exciting topics and a little bit of something for everyone. There are lots of stats (Who was the shortest baseball player ever?) for the kid who needs everything to be proven. There are also whimsical moments (Who has the best facial hair in baseball?) for those who like a little bit of a laugh.
This oversized book with its very attractive design will be a big hit with all kinds of baseball lovers. It's a great book to just sit down with and casually flip through, or make a night of it and read cover to cover. It could also cause quite a few debates in your household; not everyone agrees on the greatest mascot ever (Mr. Red didn't make the list? How dare they?). Copies may be scarce at your library because Somebody still might have a copy at their house and is having a hard time bringing it back.
I work in Youth Services, and like to read all kinds of books, although nonfiction is not my favorite. I spend a good portion of my time rooting for the Reds with my basset hound sleeping in my lap. I have been known to ride my scooter, watch Tim Burton movies and sing silly songs.
