When I finished this book, I hugged it and cried sweet tears of joy.
I loved, loved, loved this book! It is honestly one of the best teen romance novels I have read in a long time.
The companion novel to Anna and the French Kiss, the story is about Lola Nolan, a wannabe costume designer, who is having the best summer designing her Marie-Antoinette-style prom gown and hanging with Max, her 22 year-old (yes, I said 22!) punk rock boyfriend. Needless to say, her parents despise him. Of course, this supposed perfection doesn't last too long because Cricket Bell-- the boy who broke Lola's heart, the boy whom Lola has never gotten over-- is back in town. Cricket Bell is one of the sweetest boys in all of teen literature. You will fall in love!
I am keeping my copy of this book forever because it was just such a sweet and amazing love story. If you love Sarah Dessen or Elizabeth Scott, you will love Stephanie Perkins. She is definitely an author to watch.
Lola and the Boy Next Door easily stands alone, so you don't have to have read Anna and the French Kiss to love this book as much as me. The third book, Isla and the Happily Ever After, comes out in 2013. Guess who will be clamoring for that book? This girl!
I am the adult services materials selector for Worthington Libraries. When I'm not chasing after my two boys, I like to sew, read and collect recipes (but don't be fooled, I never make any of them!).
