Job Help Day @ Your Library

Whether it's resume writing help, access to classifieds, industry and company information or acquiring new skills, job hunters have always been able to rely on the free resources of their local library. In today's economy, these resources are more in demand than ever.

To meet this demand, and provide additional support for local job seekers, unique sessions have been planned at each Worthington Libraries location.

Northwest Library's programs include:

• How to Stand Out: 10 Easy Steps to Being the Best Candidate
  10-11 am
  The job market has never been more competitive, but there are ways to distinguish yourself from other candidates. Learn how from Ellen Rhoades, a professional recruiter and HR professional. Her 10 tips could give you an edge and get you that job.
• 1 on 1: Practice Interviews
  10-11 am
  You've landed that big interview, now what? Practice makes perfect, so let an HR professional coach you through the do's and don'ts of interviewing. Learn how to make a great first impression, convey your professionalism and answer the toughest interview questions.
• What's LinkedIn & How Can it Get You a Job?
  11 am-noon
  Social media and networking sites offer job seekers an entirely new set of tools— make sure you're maximizing them! This informative session will demonstrate the unique benefits of sites like Twitter and LinkedIn. Learn how building networks and establishing relationships can aid you in your job search.
• 1 on 1: Resume Help from HR Professionals
  11 am-noon
  When putting the finishing touches on your resume, another set of eyes is always helpful— especially when the eyes are those of an HR professional! Sit down for a one-on-one review of your resume. Learn how you can present your best self in writing!
• How to Search for Jobs
  Noon-1 pm
  If you're trying to get back into the workforce or even change jobs, learn about the tools and resources the Library has to help you succeed!
• Your Professional Image
  1-2 pm
  From our body language and wardrobe choices to our resume and Facebook page, nearly everything we do shapes how prospective employers respond to us. Allison Plunkett, a career counselor at The Ohio State University's Office of Student Life Career Connection, will explain how to maintain a professional image throughout the entire job search, from that first inquiry to the final interview!
• 1 on 1: Online Applications
  1-2 pm
  Are you frustrated by hard-to-fill-out online job applications? Do you have trouble posting your resume to Monster.com or other employment web sites? Get personalized assistance from library staff during this session.
