Known for flashy dance numbers and dramatic storylines, Bollywood films are also full of romance and song. This series will screen three films that have defined the Bollywood genre.
"Mother India" (1957, 168 minutes) follows one woman's life from marriage to old age, capturing the joys and tragedies of village life in rural India. Nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
Presented in partnership with the McConnell Arts Center, the movie will be introduced by Chris Stults, assistant film/video curator at the Wexner Center for the Arts.
