Since 2006, Worthington Libraries has participated in Warm Up America!, a program that encourages people to knit or crochet 7" x 9" blocks, which are then sewn together to form afghans for those in need.

At the end of January 2007, two sessions were offered to teach people how to knit. During the month of February, a Block Bee was held, where people came together to knit the individual squares used to create the afghans. On February 24, 2007, the many squares donated by the public where joined together during a Finishing Bee.

In 2007, Worthington Libraries donated over 30 colorful afghans to the United Methodist Children's Home, Refugee and Immigration Services and the Sexual Assault Response Network.

Warm Up Worthington will be an annual event. Join us next time and help us knit for a good cause.
