Hokey Pokey

What if the Hokey Pokey is what it's all about? Something to ponder while singing this song and improving your child's early literact skills.

You put your right hand in,
(stretch right arm out in front of you)
You take your right hand out,
(put right arm behind you)
You put your right hand in and you shake it all about;
(stretch right arm out in front of you and shake it)
You do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around
(turn around)
That’s what it’s all about.
(clap hands on each beat)

Repeat the above verses, replacing the words "right hand" with: left hand, right leg, left leg, and whole self.

Help your child be ready to read by practicing early literacy skills. Teaching children rhymes and songs is a great way to help children develop the ability to hear and play with the smaller sounds in words.

Baby/Toddler/Preschool: Singing songs can help kids realize that words are made up of syllables because often songs will have a different note for each syllable.
