Love of Books (Print Motivation)

Print motivation— children who have interest in and find enjoyment in books will be more likely to want to know how to read.

  • Allow your baby to explore books— even if it means he just chews on them!
  • Keep books in a toy box or on a low shelf so they are accessible.
  • Find a time to read when you and your child will both enjoy it.
  • Read a book about something that interests your child.
  • Read a non-fiction book together— you don’t have to read every word.
