During its regular meeting held on Monday, September 24, 2007, the Worthington School District Board of Education recognized "Meribah Mansfield and the staff of the Worthington Libraries for being named 2007 Gale/Library Journal Library of the Year." Members of the library staff and the Board of Trustees gathered in the Worthington Education Center to receive the recognition, where School Board Vice President Jennifer made the presentation.
During the Worthington City Council Meeting held on Monday, July 2, 2007, the council recognized the Worthington Libraries with a resolution in honor of winning the 2007 Library of the Year award. Members of the library staff, Board of Trustees and Friends of the Worthington Libraries gathered in the Council Chambers of City Hall for a special presentation, where City Council President Lou Goorey read the resolution to the group.
The Ohio House of Representatives began their June 27, 2007 session with several presentations, including one honoring the Worthington Libraries for receiving the 2007 Library of the Year award. First, members of the Worthington Libraries staff gathered on the House Chamber floor. Then Speaker of the House Jon Husted invited Representative Kevin Bacon and Representative Jim Hughes to come forward.
Representing the library Board, the staff and the community of Worthington, Meribah Mansfield (Director/Clerk-Treasurer for Worthington Libraries) took the podium and thanked Library Journal and Thomson Gale for the honor of being selected 2007 Library of the Year. "Our work is joyous," she said, "a blessing in our lives."
