Now that you've tried your hand at using the mouse to click on and follow hyperlinks, it's time to explore some of the other elements of a computer screen that might require clicking with the mouse. One of the most frequently used is the "scroll bar," which is used when there is too much information to fit in a given space on the screen. In fact, there is probably a scroll bar at the far right side of this window right now, but before using that bar, try the one that is below. Here's how:

Click on the scroll arrows to scroll one line at a time. To scroll more than a line at a time, hold the mouse button down over the arrows. To move even faster, click in the empty space in the scroll bar to either side of the "scroll box." For more control, you can "drag" the mouse by clicking and holding on the scroll box while moving the mouse. Try all of these techniques on the scroll box to the right, and when you're done you can use the real scroll bar on the far right to scroll down to the next part of the exercise. |

Some other elements you might need to click on include various check boxes and buttons you will use to make decisions or show choices. Below are some samples for you to try.
Now that you've finished that in form in fine form, let's move on to "dragging."
(You can click the linked word dragging, or for an added challenge, scroll back to the top of this page and use the drop down menu labeled "Go to" to move to the dragging lesson.)
