Welcome to the Mouse Tutorial.

The "mouse" allows you to point and click on different areas of the computer display to perform various actions.

This tutorial is designed to explain key concepts about using the mouse in a Microsoft Windows environment and to let you practice those concepts. When you have finished with this tutorial you should:

Holding and moving the Mouse - the basics

Hold the mouse gently between the thumb and ring finger of the right* hand, allowing the index and middle fingers to rest lightly on the buttons without pressing down. (*If you prefer to use the mouse with your left hand, please move the mouse to the left side of the keyboard and reverse the words "left" and "right" in this tutorial.)

For best results, you should roll the mouse on a mouse pad. If you get to the edge of the pad, simply lift the mouse and reposition it in the center of the pad.

Click this red button to move to the next screenTo learn more about moving the mouse, roll the mouse so the pointer is over the button and "click" by pressing the left mouse button once.
