Worthington Park Library is Worthington Libraries' newest location. Situated in the Worthington Park Shopping Centre, the Worthington Park Library primarily serves the northeast part of Worthington Libraries' service district.

History

On July 17, 2007, the library board approved a resolution to appropriate funds to open a storefront library. On December 17, 2007 Worthington Libraries signed the lease for the space in the Worthington Park Shopping Centre and construction commenced on January 22, 2008. The Worthington Park Library opened on April 16, 2008.

Collection

The collection at Worthington Park Library has more than:

  • 17,000 books, including:
    • 11,000 Children's books
    • 5,000 Adult books
    • 1,000 Teen books
  • 50 magazine and newspaper subscriptions

Worthington Park Library's collection is unique in that it focuses heavily on children's books, but also offers a well-rounded collection of Adult and Teen popular fiction and nonfiction books.

The collection is organized into several areas:

  • Children's collection
  • Teen collection
  • Homework help area
  • Adult collection
  • Magazines and newspapers

Due to space constraints, Worthington Park does not have a browsing collection of audio-visual materials (DVDs, audiobooks, CDs), but patrons are welcome to reserve items from the library catalog of more than 3 million items, and pick up or drop off those materials at the Worthington Park location.

Building and services

Although only 5,280 sq. ft., the Worthington Park Library offers many of the same services as our other locations, including access to the library catalog and over 3.6 million items, pickup of reserved items, dozens of computers with Internet access and Microsoft Office, and storytimes and other programming for children and families.

Visit the Story Park in the children's department to explore the large collection of children's books, interactive computer programs, storytimes and other relevant programming.

Come to the Teen area, located in a "nook" at the back of the library to curl up with your favorite book. Check out the Homework Help Center, where students can get help with their homework from both library staff and volunteers, with reference tools and technology.

Visit out our Job Help Center, where job seekers can get assistance from trained staff as well as special computer privileges during designated hours.

Dozens of computers are available across the library, offering Internet access and use of Microsoft Office. We also offer free wireless access. Copying and printing are also available for a small fee.
