Warm Up Worthington
Love to knit? Then come put your skills to work for a good cause! For the third year in a row, Worthington Libraries will be participating in Warm Up America!, a program that encourages people to knit or crochet 7" x 9" blocks that are sewn together to form afghans for those in need. Last year, Warm Up Worthington! knitters made over 30 colorful quilts, which were donated to the United Methodist Children's Home, Refugee and Immigration Services, and the Sexual Assault Response Network of Central Ohio.

Knitters and crocheters of all ages and skill levels are welcome to participate and
no registration is required. If you are a teen looking for community service
credits, this is the project for you.
Supplies
  • Please use only acrylic yarns
  • Please use a 7"x9" cardboard template as a pattern and weave in the tails—it makes assembly much easier!
  • Templates and knitting instructions will be available at the Information Desk at the Northwest Library and the Fiction Desk at the Old Worthington Library between January 19, 2008 - February 16, 2008.
  • These instructions are also available on the Warm Up America! Web site.
  • The Libraries will also have a limited number of kits with yarn included beginning on January 19, 2008. Come early to get yours!
Completed Blocks
  • Remember, you don't need to attend either of the knitting events to donate!
  • Boxes will be available at both desks to collect donated blocks. Completed afghans (49 blocks) are also welcome. Please make your donations by 6 pm February 16, 2008.
  • If you would like to help put blocks together, you may do so at any time between January 19, 2008 - February 16, 2008. Please call the Old Worthington Library Reference Desk, 807-2626, to sign up.
Questions? Call Meredith Southard at the Old Worthington Library (807-2626).
