Purpose
Under general supervision, the Outreach Specialist prepares and conducts programs and performs related duties.
Essential Position Functions
- Proactively provides customer service
- Interviews, researches, and answers questions from patrons
- Recommends materials based on interest of patrons
- Plans, promotes and presents programs for patrons outside of the Library through community outreach with the guidance of the Outreach Services Coordinator
- Assists patrons with basic troubleshooting of common software products, operating systems, browsers and other technologies associated with library services (including handheld devices, e-readers, laptops, tablets, etc.)
- Maintains inventory of outreach supplies
- Performs duties of Library Associate and Circulation Assistant, as needed
- Ability to safely drive outreach vehicle in a variety of weather conditions
Required experience
Education, Training and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or a high school diploma or GED and an equivalent combination of education, training and experience; and
- A minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience; and
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience developing and presenting programs for children; and
- Ability to pass alphanumeric sorting test; and
- Ability to pass computer skills test

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate judgment in handling information and records
- Ability to work accurately with attention to detail
- Ability to arrange items in alphanumeric and/or subject order
- Ability to deliver programs and speak before groups
- Knowledge of traditional and electronic resources including web sites, databases and on-line searching skills
- Ability to retain and follow library circulation policies and procedures
- Ability to develop and present age-appropriate programs and activities on a daily basis
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with community partners
- Ability to work independently
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint

Valid driver license, with an acceptable driving record
Schedule
- Monday-Thursday: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
- Plus 4 hours flexible schedule
