Purpose:

Under direction, the Circulation Team Leader supervises Circulation Aides and Circulation Assistants, and serves as Circulation Manager in their absence.

Essential Position Functions:

  1. Supervisory duties
  2. Serves as the first level of management in resolving patron disputes
  3. Assists with problem solving and manages workflow
  4. Leads the opening and/or closing operations for a location, including managing money, ensuring the startup or shutdown of equipment and unlocking and/or locking of doors
  5. Oversees and monitors handling of money
  6. Performs duties of Circulation Assistant, as needed
  7. Serves as librarian-in-charge, as assigned

Required experience

Education, Training and/or Experience
  1. Bachelor’s degree; and  
  2. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a circulation department with progressive levels of responsibility with an above-average record of performance, OR
  3. A high school diploma or GED and an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics
  1. Proficient in the use of the Integrated Library System (ILS)
  2. Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate judgment in handling information and records
  3. Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations and policies
  4. Ability to work accurately with attention to detail
  5. Ability to arrange items in alphanumeric and/or subject order
  6. Ability to address and resolve patron conflicts equitably
  7. Knowledge of state and federal employment laws
  8. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  9. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  10. Ability to retain and follow circulation policies and procedures

Schedule

  • Sunday (every 3rd): 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
  • Monday: 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm
  • Tuesday: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
  • Wednesday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
  • Thursday: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
  • Either a Friday or Saturday each week (based on a rotating schedule): 8:30 am - 6:00 pm
