Book group is all about business

If you think business books mean boring books, think again!

Today's titles offer a great deal to busy leaders, supervisors and professionals. Popular enough to climb the New York Times bestseller list, the books address a wide range of topics, from personal productivity (Getting Things Done) to the economic power of creativity (The Rise of the Creative Class).

Additionally, many of today's business titles present a cross-disciplinary approach that helps us learn as much about ourselves as we learn about business. Far from being buttoned-down tomes on cold-calling, payroll and pricing, today's popular business books are more likely to tackle areas of personal and professional development. It seems to have finally occurred to business writers that business is about people as much as profits, relationships as much as ratios.

Boost your professional development and your bottom line by attending the library's Get Smart! Business Book Discussion Group. Presented in partnership with the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce, you'll meet new people while you talk about books of interest to business professionals.

The group meets quarterly; the next discussion is scheduled November 4 at 5:30 pm at J Liu, 6880 N. High St. The selected title is Kerry Patterson's Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When the Stakes Are High.

For information about future meetings, call 614-807-2626.
