There's something about spring that sparks the imagination and fuels creativity. Put both to work this month during exciting annual competitions, sponsored by Worthington Libraries.

Poetry Competition

Spring into action to enter the library's fourth All-Ages Poetry Competition. Participants can submit up to two poems through March 22 at any Worthington Libraries location, where rules and entry forms are also available.

A panel of judges will review all submissions and choose three winners in the following categories: grades K-3, 4-6, 7-8, 9-12 and adult.

On April 26, during National Poetry Month, winners will be announced during open mic readings planned at Old Worthington Library. You can hear from entrants in the K-3 and 4-6 grade categories at 10am and from adult and 7-12 grade entrants at 2pm.

Bookmark Contest

Kids in preschool through high school are encouraged to pick up a template and enter the library's Bookmark Contest, which runs through March 31.

Crayons, colored pencils or markers can be used to draw pictures interpreting the theme of the 2014 Summer Reading Club, Choose Your Own Journey. Winning contest entries will be turned into bookmarks to promote the club.

Participants can submit up to three drawings in the Bookmark Contest. Three entries each will be chosen in the preschool-kindergarten, grades 1-3, grades 4-6, middle school and high school categories.
