In brief

Take a break from election madness and listen to (or read!) this great audiobook about recapturing the American Dream.

"What happened to the America I thought I knew?"

That's the first sentence of this book. A journalist since 1962, Brokaw has observed and reported important moments in history and talked to people from all over the world. The question he gets asked frequently while working and traveling is from Americans: "Have we lost our way?"

In the book, Brokaw discusses important topics like community, civic engagement, education and technology. In each section, he talks about the past and what we can learn from it and then provides his own thoughts on how we can move forward. He also offers ideas from Americans who are making a difference in their communities.

I was looking for my next audiobook, and came across this on one of our displays. The title of the book intrigued, and I figured anything narrated by Tom Brokaw was going to be pretty good. I was right! I found this audiobook very thought-provoking, filled with ideas you can discuss around the dinner table.
