In 2017, the Friends Foundation of Worthington Libraries commissioned an original sculpture from artist Mike Tizzano.

The sculpture design was based on characters from our recent summer reading programs, which featured Ricky the raccoon, Winston the owl and Asparagus the fox, and created on-site over several months in the lobby of Old Worthington Library.

The finished piece, called Reading with Friends, was cast in bronze and unveiled to the public at an event on May 1, 2018. The area around the sculpture includes natural pathways, native plants and bench seating, making it a neighborhood destination.
