Songs hold onto summer!
"(Sittin' on) the Dock of the Bay" may be the best summer song ever about sitting around doing nothing.
These guys sounded dangerous in the '70s - especially playing the song "Loose" - and they still do.
If you've never seen the clip of Bowie doing the song "Golden Years" on Soul Train, go watch it now.
"The Passenger" is the anthem of road trippers, bobbing along under cityscapes and nights skies to Iggy Pop's upbeat guitars and haunting voice.
"When My Baby's Beside Me," by rock's great should-have-beens, is perfect summer driving music.
A lot of the best songs about summer are about driving, too. Case in point: "Can’t Hardly Wait."
Zac Brown Band
Even if you've never been to Georgia, you can still identify with the simplicity of a summer night spent with friends, family, fried chicken and a radio playing a song like "Chicken Fried."
The Strokes can make you nostalgic for so many things, but "Someday" in particular will make you long for the carefree days of summer if you don't enjoy them while you can.
Peter Tosh demands respect despite his size in "Stepping Razor," a hopping reggae jam that makes one think of beaches and razors.
Like a new fling, "1 Thing" gets inside your head and just won't get out. It has one of the great drum beats in all of R&B that will keep you grooving all summer long.
For anyone looking to start over this summer, "Destination" is the perfect soundtrack with its scratchy mandolin, beautiful harmonics and fiery fiddle that sounds like a backyard concert.
Lake Street Dive
Rachel Price's smooth vocals make the track "You Go Down Smooth" a killer. It's about those people who go to your head, much like this song.
"Be Mine" is the kind of song you might sing to your baby under the stars, promising with bluesy falsetto to be true.
It may be from the 21st century, but "Ain't It a Sin" sounds like classic soul from the 1970s.
Ease into the psychedelic reverberations of Tame Impala. "Feels like We Only Go Backwards" is perfect for a summer afternoon, while "Mind Mischief" will make you look at the stars in a whole new light.
Look in the reflections of the swimming pool while the poppy song "Reflections" crackles in the background.
St. Paul & the Broken Bones
"Flow with It (You Got Me Feeling Like)" soulfully recreates that feeling you get when you find a summer love for the first time.
When you're rolling through the city heat, caught in a traffic jam and you don't think you’ll ever get out, just remember things are gonna be "Alright."
