In honor of The New Yorker magazine's 100th birthday, join Caitlin McGurk for a look at the art of Barbara Shermund, whose trailblazing cartoons helped shape the magazine's early decades. McGurk, author of Tell Me A Story Where the Bad Girl Wins: The Life and Art of Barbara Shermund, is curator of comics and cartoon art at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum. Library staffer Meredith Southard, a frequent contributor to The New Yorker, will share her tips for aspiring gag cartoonists.
