I love fall and all things Halloween, but it's time to say goodbye to pumpkins and get ready for winter and the joys of the coldest season. Cozy nights by the fireplace. A stack of books by the bedside. A forecast that calls for snow. These are a few of my favorite things!

I hope one of your favorite things is to visit the Library. We have some amazing programs lined up in the next few months, not the least of which is an author visit with Ta-Nehisi Coates. We are partnering with 10 other central Ohio libraries to bring this National Book Award-winning author to Columbus on Sunday, February 4. Visit the library's website for ticket information.

Our partnerships with other libraries and community organizations make so many programs possible. One of them is the Black Joy Film Series, presented in partnership with the McConnell Arts Center, Worthington Alliance of Black Families and Educators and the Friends Foundation of Worthington Libraries. We're showing three fantastic movies at the McConnell Arts Center on February 3 (The Woman King), February 10 (Wakanda Forever) and March 9 (The Princess and the Frog). The movies are free, but seating can be reserved by visiting mcconnellarts.org

Want to settle in by the fire and listen to some great music? February by the Fire returns with performances by local musicians each Friday in February at 4 pm in the fireplace area of Old Worthington Library.

If you're celebrating a holiday this season and in need of gift ideas, we have you covered! Our staff has rounded up the year's best books, movies and music that are sure to please everyone on your list. Visit our website to find something you'll love to give.

Finally, I know this season is full of hustle and bustle with shopping, company parties, friends and family arriving from out of town, cookies (so many cookies) - all joyful things, to be sure. But if you need a break, are feeling blue or just need a place to warm up when it's cold outside, the Library is here for you in this and every season.

Have a wonderful winter, Worthington, and a happy 2024!
